Home And Away Star Sophie Dillman Shares New Role After Ziggy Exit

After leaving the serial opera, former Home and Away star Sophie Dillman revealed her next role.

The actress said in her Yahoo Lifestyle Australia column that she had moved from Summer Bay to East London after being cast in a Wanstead Theatre Company performance of Breakfast with Johnny Wilkinson.

“When I was offered this role I was ecstatic and petrified all at once,” Dillman wrote, adding that she has always enjoyed working in theater and was both pleased and nervous to go into a new role.

“I’m overjoyed because the character is a lot of fun, the tale is hilarious, and the producers, actors, and director are all really kind. But right now, the elation is clearly being overshadowed by the feeling of being terrified.

She went on: “For the past seven years, I have only performed with Ziggy. Suddenly, I find myself immersed in a completely different character, surrounded by complete strangers.

After six years in the character, Dillman left the Australian serial opera earlier this year. He has been Ziggy Astoni since 2017.

She left the soap opera with her partner Patrick O’Connor, who portrayed Ziggy’s lover Dean Thompson. After an emotional baby plotline, the two characters moved to Queensland.

The relationship between Dillman and O’Connor, who first met on the set of Home and Away, has grown stronger, and the two have moved to London together.

The actress talked about the body shaming she experienced while working on the soap opera earlier this month, stating that she was among the few cast members who were questioned about wearing a bikini.

She said that she frequently “hated” wearing a bikini to work. “None of the straight-sized actors/actresses have their confidence questioned or their value put up for debate,” she stated.
