Star of Emmerdale Charlotte Bellamy has discussed the tumultuous moments that will unfold on the soap as Arthur Thomas lies about his romantic life.
Charlotte’s personality Next week, Laurel Thomas is going to have a rude awakening when she hears Arthur bragging to his pal, April Windsor.
Arthur begins to flirt with John Sugden, an older man, in an attempt to appear more certain and experienced than he actually is.
Arthur then deceives April by pretending to have had sex with John, taking things a step further.
Laurel overhears this talk and becomes enraged at the age difference. She quickly goes to confront John about the unfounded rumors that he is having an affair with her 17-year-old son.
Regarding the moments, Charlotte said, “Laurel is genuinely spooked out because she feels that John is taking advantage of her right away. She has no idea that Arthur is clearly lying, and this will be revealed.
“But it’s really about Arthur’s insecurity, about wanting to be cool and experienced as a young gay man, rather than being seen as a novice.”
When asked if Laurel will support Arthur after realizing everything is a fake, Charlotte said, “Oh, yes. It’s a little embarrassing for her to have to go back to John and apologize because she made a total fool of herself in front of him and accused him of all kinds of things.
Thus, Arthur included his mother in it. But you’ve got to take the good with the bad. These issues come up when you have children. Obviously, she wants to trust her kid. It’s not that she wants to assume he’s lying right away. Maybe next time, she’ll be a little more cautious, in my opinion.”
A confrontation at The Woolpack is sparked by the drama, and it gets much messier when Arthur reacts by disclosing Laurel’s new relationship with Charles Anderson.
After seeing this argument, Laurel’s divorced husband Jai Sharma becomes angry to find out that she has a new partner.
“I think as a man, Jai’s probably got his ego dented a bit, because Laurel moved on so quickly,” Charlotte continued. That sounds like his true feelings to me.
However, he is truly taking advantage of Laurel by manipulating the terms of their divorce. Thus, he has also gone on to other endeavors. Not a great deal of affection is lost there.”
