“All of us will miss him terribly.”

Timothy West, a cast member of EastEnders, passed away at the age of 90.

His children, Juliet, Samuel, and Joseph West, confirmed the news in a joint statement, saying their father “died peacefully in his sleep” last evening (November 12).

“Our beloved father Timothy West passed away quietly in his sleep yesterday evening after a long and remarkable life on and off the stage. According to their statement, he was 90 years old.

“Tim ended up with relatives and friends. He leaves behind a sister, a daughter, two sons, seven grandsons, and four great-grandchildren in addition to his 61-year marriage to Prunella Scales. He will be sorely missed by all of us.

“We would like to thank the incredible NHS staff at St George’s Hospital,Tooting and at Avery Wandsworth for their loving care during his last days.”

Over the course of his decades-long career, West played a number of parts in both theater and film.

His roles as Jeremy Lister on Gentleman Jack and his brief appearance as Eric Babbage on Coronation Street in 2013 may be familiar to TV viewers. The next year, the actor was cast as Stan Carter in EastEnders.

Prostate Cancer UK commended the plot for helping to “break down one of the biggest taboos around men’s health” after Stan’s fight with prostate cancer ended in 2015.

After his last scenes aired, West talked about his experience on EastEnders and that he enjoyed working with Danny Dyer.

He said, “Oh he’s lovely,” at the time. “I mean he swears like a trooper, but of course, we don’t swear on EastEnders so he could be doing all the ‘f’ and ‘c’ words and then go (on set and say), ‘Oh, goodness me, that’s a mess, what have you been doing here?'”
