Coronation Street are set to revisit Toyah Battersby’s horrific rape from over 20 years ago as it comes to light that she buried her stillborn baby at The Red Rec
It is said that Coronation Street is planning its most graphic plot to date.
Viewers of the ITV soap opera will soon learn that, following her rape in 2001, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) buried a stillborn child in a park.
The Weatherfield favorite reportedly fears her dark secret will be revealed when she learns the land is going to be dug up. The Sun was informed by a source that “this is still an extremely dark and ambitious storyline, and some longtime fans may decide to pick apart the holes.” The source said that people desire entertainment.
The vicious attack and its aftermath were all depicted on screen, thus it has raised some concerns on set that she later became pregnant after the rape, experienced a stillbirth on her own, and buried her deceased child at The Red Rec. It won’t be favorably received.”

Devoted viewers of the soap opera will recall that Toyah was sexually assaulted by her neighbor Phil Simmons (Jack Deam) following their friendship during his eviction from Flat 2, 6 Arnica Street in 2000, which was caused by Duggie Ferguson and Vinny Sorell.
In April of 2001, Phil ran with Toyah again and was taken aback to see that she had now sided with Duggie. Toyah was raped by Phil in an alleyway a few weeks later. She was brought back to 5 Coronation Street, where Les (Bruce Jones) and Janice Battersby (Vicky Entwistle) contacted the police after being discovered by Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas). Toyah didn’t know who had sexually assaulted her that evening, so Phil feigned to support her during the trauma.

When everyone on the block was told to get a DNA test, Toyah’s initial theory that Duggie was the murderer was refuted. when being taken to Weatherfield Police Station for more interrogation, Peter Barlow (Chris Gasgoyne) was taken into custody on rape suspicions when he declined to provide a DNA sample.
Everyone believed he was guilty for the next few days, but when the results were finally in, Peter was found not to be guilty either. At the conclusion of the month, Phil called up to No. 5. Toyah recognized the voice she had heard shortly before her ordeal when Phil called out to her in the kitchen. Peter heard the screams as Toyah attempted to flee and hurried inside the house to stop Phil.

At first, Phil disputed the rape accusations, but the DNA found on Toyah’s clothing exactly matched Phil’s. Toyah visited Phil at Strangeways Jail a few months later. After denying guilt for several months, Phil eventually admitted to rape and told Toyah that he had tried suicide.
When it was revealed that Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks will replace Iain MacLeod as head of Corrie after he was elevated to executive producer for ongoing drama by ITV executives, the intriguing new plot began. ITV has been contacted by Daily Star for a response.
