Roy Cropper finds himself locked up in a cell next week as Coronation Street spoilers reveal he gets charged with Lauren Bolton’s murder in a heartbreaking twist

Next week, there will be a significant development in the case of missing Coronation Street child Lauren Bolton.

When Roy Cropper (David Neilson) answers the phone in the café, he immediately goes upstairs after taking yet another round of insults. At Number 8, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) wants to pay Roy a visit, but Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Nick and Shona Platt (Julia Goudling) talk about the horrible abuse Roy is having to endure.

Later, Sam calls at the café and recommends to Roy that they play a game of chess. He then tells Shona that he’s going to visit Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan). Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) and Shona are informed by Roy’s niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) that they need to answer the phone even though Roy is expecting a call from Lauren’s mother, who has gone missing.

Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) informs Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) and Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) that he plans to assist Roy clear his reputation since he understands what it’s like to be falsely accused after going through comments on the internet. While Stu is talking to a homeless man in the precinct in hopes of learning more about Lauren, he happens to glance at the man who is picking up a brick.

With his face covered in blood, Stu makes his way back to Speed Daal and tells Yasmeen about how he was struck by a brick and had his wallet taken. When Evelyn tells Roy that Christian Gatley, Hayley’s son, has made some cruel internet posts about him and Hayley, Roy is shocked.

Later, Kerry, Lauren’s mother, shows up at the café and greets Roy and Nina. During the night, Kerry discreetly tapes Roy’s living room and records a commentary making him seem to be a killer. Roy sleep wanders into the room, and Kelly jumps back onto the sofa and pretends to be asleep.

Nick and Sam call at the café apartment after reading the awful things Christian wrote about Roy online. Nick apologizes to Roy and tells him that he would be pleased for Sam to spend time with him if things go back to normal. Kerry notices in private when Sam tells Roy that he’s his greatest buddy for eternity.

A trembling Roy tells Shona and Nina that Lauren’s mother has called and asked him not to get in touch with her ever again as he makes his way to the cafe. With all eyes on her, Alice acknowledges that she is not Kerry. When Alice spots Roy and Evelyn heading out with Freddie, she starts photographing them. Roy tries to stop her, but she stumbles and hits her head.

Alice runs off accusing him of abuse. Has Roy gotten into any more problems? Returning to the café, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) informs Carla Barlow (Alison King), Nina, Evelyn, and Shona that Roy has been charged with Lauren’s (Cait Fitton) murder. Fear has rendered Roy absolutely numb as he sits by himself in his police cell.
