This year, as Home and Away comes to an end, Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) finds himself in a difficult moral situation when he sets up a meeting with the young woman who received the heart and lungs of his late sister Felicity (Jacqui Purvis).
Cash was devastated as he sat at the bedside of a clinically dead Flick, and his then-fiancee Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) had assisted him in deciding to give Flick’s organs.

Eden proposed, “It sounds pretty good to me to think of her heart beating in someone else, someone who can dance and love… someone who can maybe torment their big brother.”
The documents were signed after Cash gave his consent. A month later, one of the recipients sent Cash a letter through the organ donation organization. Although the organization clarified that he was not required to read it, Cash made the decision to do so with John (Shane Withington) by his side.
After dealing with a cardiac condition all her life, the woman thanked Flick for sharing her heart and lungs. She had been able to fully enjoy life because of this life-saving gift.

Cash was eager to respond, but as John noted, it was explicitly stated that the letter had to be anonymous. After responding in writing, Cash got a follow-up message from the woman expressing her wish to meet in person.
At first, Cash tried to get Rose to contact the company and request her identity in order to fabricate a police case. Then, however, he happened onto an internet forum.
He posted a message and got a response from Michelle (Mercy Cornwall), who revealed that the day of Flick’s death, she had gotten a heart and lung transplant. They appeared to have a match.

After John expressed his discomfort and Tane (Ethan Browne) made it apparent that he didn’t want anything to do with Cash’s plan, Cash gets confirmation the following week that Michelle would like to meet him.
Following John’s explanation of the situation, Remi (played by Adam Rowland) questions Cash about whether he has thought through the possible repercussions of meeting Michelle. What is he going to say? What does he want to get out of this meeting? However, Cash is insistent, claiming that since getting Michelle’s first letter, this is all he has been thinking about.
Cash runs to get his mind clear. But his thoughts is overtaken by the agonizing recollections of his last moments with Felicity, just before she donated her organs.

He starts to experience a panic attack because he is overwhelmed. John meets him outside the surf club and helps him relax by telling him to work through his feelings and concentrate on his breathing.
Before he can cancel the appointment, Cash receives a message from Michelle, who is already en route to Summer Bay, suggesting that perhaps John and Remi were correct after all.

As Cash anxiously awaits Michelle’s arrival, Remi and Kirby (Angelina Thomson) are entrusted with keeping Eden away from Cash’s apartment since they are unsure of her reaction.
When she finally shows up, the two click right away as Michelle embraces Cash and expresses gratitude with tears in her eyes.

Thanking Cash for his hospitality, Michelle enters and says she wants to know more about Felicity. They browse through Felicity’s photo album together.
Michelle genuinely doesn’t know when Cash asks if she enjoys dancing like Flick did. She has never been allowed to engage in strenuous physical exercise, and she has been restricted to a wheelchair for the last two years.

Michelle has a new lease on life after the transplant; she can now walk and is getting better every day. She is eager to see what the future brings.
Later, fate steps in as they stroll down the shore. When Eden, who is also on a walk, sees the two huddled together on a seat, he makes a mistaken assumption. Eden is furious and goes back home, where Remi is compelled to disclose the identity of the unidentified woman.

Eden quickly allows herself to enter Cash’s home and begs to see Michelle, but he hurries her out and informs her that she is not permitted.
Even when Eden tells Cash that Flick was her best friend and that he isn’t the only one who misses her, he still refuses, and Eden is compelled to go.

After discovering Eden’s true identity, Michelle stands up for her, asking Cash why Eden shouldn’t be given the opportunity to recover as well. Cash tries to clarify that it’s complicated, but it makes sense for Michelle and Eden to meet since Michelle is here to find out everything there is to know about Flick.
After that, Cash goes to the sharing house, and to Eden’s astonishment, he invites her to meet Michelle. Despite their initial nervousness, Eden quickly tells Michelle about Flick’s role as co-owner of a restaurant and how he brought the band to Summer Bay.

Cash, meantime, is having trouble and has another panic episode while taking a break in the backyard.

The three of them go out to lunch since Michelle is eager to see Salt. When pressed, Eden tells Michelle that she and Cash were engaged until recently, and Michelle is unable to ignore the tension between them.
At first, Cash is upset that Eden has revealed the truth, but when he explains his reasons for the breakup to Michelle, she reminds him that she has her entire life ahead of her because of Flick, and she wants the same for him.

In order to visit Flick’s cemetery and meet his foster father Gary (played by Peter Phelps), Cash has made the decision to drive Michelle there the next morning. Michelle thanks Eden for being so honest with her, and Eden is there to wave them off.
John, who has stopped by to greet her, notices that Eden is having emotional difficulties as she watches Cash and Michelle leave in their car.

Will the journey provide Cash with the much-needed boost to begin envisioning a better future for himself?
Alf (Ray Meagher), meantime, seemed to be experiencing some unease. As he assists him in packing supplies onto the surf rescue boat, John can’t help but see that Alf is straining, but he tells John that he’s okay after catching his breath.

Unbeknownst to Marilyn (Emily Symons) and Leah (Ada Nicodemou), Alf experiences a sudden jolt in his chest while enjoying his fry-up in the diner the following morning.
Although the discomfort goes away as soon as it started, Alf’s cardiac history makes him obviously uneasy.
There is only one possible interpretation for such foreshadowing during finale week, and later that day, Alf’s worst fears are realized.

Alf stands back outside the surf club, clutching his chest in painful agony before collapsing to the ground!
The incident is witnessed by Tane, Perri (Cantona Stewart), and Harper (Jessica Redmayne), who run to help as Harper calls for an ambulance.

Nurse Dana (Ally Harris), who has been compelled to page head of emergency Bree (Juliet Godwin), is perplexed by her absence as Alf is hurried into Northern Districts.
Concerned Dana has noticed that Bree has been acting strangely lately, becoming fixated on particular chores at work and at home.

However, when Dana goes over Alf’s medical history, Levi (Tristan Gorey), a cardiothoracic surgeon, happens to be there and makes some preliminary observations.
When Bree unexpectedly shows there, she reprimands Levi for treading on her toes and tells him that she will call him if necessary after she has made her own diagnosis.
Bree has to repeatedly try to get the edges of the opposing sides of the blood pressure cuff to match up precisely before she can successfully place it on Alf’s arm.

Bree knocks her back when Dana offers to do it instead. Marilyn has hurried to Alf’s bedside and observes the tension in the room.
Later, Alf appears to be getting better, and Bree says that his chest x-ray is clear as the discomfort subsides. Marilyn discovers, however, that Alf’s nose has started to bleed. As soon as Bree requests to view Alf’s chart, he starts to tighten his chest once more and alarms start to go off, which makes her anxious.

Bree stops in the midst of the turmoil; Marilyn is yelling at her to act, the nurses are waiting for orders, and Alf is writhing in agony.
Bree insists on waiting as Nurse Theresa (Meagan Caratti) sternly advises them that they must act immediately as she prepares a syringe.
Bree asks Theresa to leave after removing the syringe, but she is unable to give the dose herself. Marilyn keeps screaming at Bree, but she is appalled when Bree calmly leaves and says she has to go check Alf’s blood pressure!
