One of the longest-running characters on Home and Away is Lynne McGranger, who has been playing Irene Roberts since 1993. The only other character is Alf Stewart, who debuted as one of the show’s founding characters in 1988 and was portrayed by Ray Meagher.
Jacquy Phillips, the original actress, was replaced by her. Over the years, the beloved series has completed a crucial plot point by bringing attention to the challenges associated with addiction and alcoholism.

After a few months away from the soap opera, Lynne just returned to filming after her character went to treatment due to a relapse earlier this year. She had become one of the town’s most adored and respected citizens.
She continued to perform during her character’s absence, meanwhile, going on tour with the stage production of The Grandparents Club.
Since Lynne is a well-liked character, it’s no surprise that fans also like her. Here, we look at her life outside of the soap opera.
Lynne and Paul have been together for 40 years and have been in a committed relationship.
Despite not getting married, the couple has been together since they first met at a dinner in 1984.
Together, they joke about getting married when they needed white goods, and the Home and Away star revealed that she is still waiting for Paul to drop the question.
If they do get married, she says, it will be at home and be a very relaxed occasion with local flowers and a barbecue.
Lynn updated her friends and followers on her health this year, revealing that she had surgery to remove her thyroid gland.
The celebrity revealed that she had recently “parted ways” with her “toxic overactive thyroid” while sharing a picture of herself grinning while lying in a hospital bed.

“It was a long time coming- we were incompatible and quite frankly I was exhausted,” she stated in her letter.
“I’m recovering nicely, and I haven’t missed that filthy thyroid at all! Watch this space for Scar spam.

The following are just a few of the signs of an overactive thyroid:
Anxiety, jitters, and irritation
fluctuations in mood
