Coronation Street viewers are not too happy after the much-loved ITV soap confirmed the “heartbreaking” news that a “staple” and landmark on the famous street is exiting

Fans of Corrie are devastated by the soap opera’s confirmation that it is “parting ways” with a well-known location on cobbles.

Retail chain The Co-op originally set up shop on the soap set back in 2018. It was hailed as one of the largest product placement alliances on British television at the time.

Alongside the convenience store on the well-known street was the coffee shop Costa. However, Costa Coffee left Weatherfield in 2021, to be replaced first by EE, a phone store, and subsequently by Hays Travel.

Furthermore, the beloved characters on the program will no longer be able to shop at Co-op. The chain will be coming out of the cobbles, the show has revealed.

The soap opera Corrie disclosed: “After six amazing years, @coopuk and Coronation Street are parting ways,” in a Facebook post. The Weatherfield Co-op has been a mainstay on the street since 2018.

Together, we’ve revived and distributed some of the most recognizable Corrie brands to Co-op Members and consumers, including R Ale, Betty’s Hotpot, The Kabin cupcakes, and Roy’s Rolls.

“It’s time to say goodbye and take stock of this incredibly amazing adventure as this period comes to an end. I appreciate the recollections.

The news devastated the fans. Someone hurried to the comments section and wrote, “Heartbreaking.” Another person said, “I work for Coops and I’m a huge Corrie fan, so this has been an awesome partnership for me.”

“Observing the Corrie coop truck with our deliveries has delighted me.” Though I’m emotional right now, I’m curious to see what comes next. Another wrote, “Ahh gutted.”

The question of what new brand could replace it on the market lingered for other admirers. “Probably turning into a barbers,” one individual remarked. “Aldi UK, this could be your chance to shine,” pondered a different person.

Co-op has announced in 2023 that it would be launching two licensed food lines on Coronation Street. Roy’s Rolls, a soft white roll, was available for fans of the soap opera to obtain. The shop also introduced The Kabin’s Rhubarb & Custard Cupcakes for those with a sweet craving.
