After Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) sold the paper to Valentin, Alexis didn’t want it to become into a gossip magazine like Peter August (Wes Ramsey) had.
Although Alexis has battled valiantly to keep the publication current and focused on social issues, Nina, her new supervisor, didn’t believe they were selling enough copies.
Although Alexis doesn’t give a damn, she felt that The Invader should reach a wider audience and draw in more readers because, to her, the publication is like being on a mission.

Diane asks Alexis whether she would like to go back to practicing law, saying that she has had enough time to consider it after being disbarred.
To get ready to try to get her law license back, she would definitely need to attend some refresher courses. But why not try going back to the bar? She’d told Diane recently how much she missed the courtroom.
Given that her goal of becoming a journalist is essentially being denied, Alexis should give it serious thought. It would be far more rewarding.
Not to mention, a courtroom is a better venue than a newspaper for prosecuting criminals and righting wrongs because the world is full of them!
